CLASSY PAPA, 2017 15.3h bay gelding

Located at Finger Lakes Racetrack, Farmington, NY (near Rochester). UPDATE as of early June 2023: Classy Papa has been donated to the Finger Lakes Thoroughbred Adoption Program (FLTAP), an on-site adoption barn run by the track. You can see him there and put in an application to be approved as an adopted if you are interested. See:

If you’re looking for a horse with personality, Papa is your guy. Papa’s trainer reports that he loves attention, that he “just wants to play” with his human, and is just very much a stereotypical gelding. While Papa is a very good boy, he can be a bit mouthy at times, but otherwise has no vices. He’s good for grooming and working around.

Papa does have arthritic changes in one of his knees. X-rays are available to seriously interested parties.  According to his trainer, he did remain sound while running, but is no longer competitive so she would like to see him move on to a new lower-level career.

While Papa was a bit distracted for his video- it was dinner time, after all- he was respectful of his handler.  He displayed a steady, even tempo, and will likely be more “whoa” than “go”.  Papa may not be the next upper level mount, but he is suitable for most lower level pursuits. Papa is by Papa Clem, who is from the Smart Strike line.  He is out of a Tizbud mare, from the Tiznow line.
