Fred is a long time barn favorite — everyone LOVES Fred, according to the trainer’s daughter. She describes Fred as sound, sane, confident, smart, friendly, brave, athletic, willing, patient and professional. What perfect attributes for a sport horse, or for your equine partner and best friend in any discipline. Fred has been a good consistent race horse who always tries hard, and he was stakes placed and allowance quality in the first years of his career. But he is no longer competitive at that higher level, so it is time to retire him to a new career while he is still sound, happy, and full of potential to do anything. We admired Fred’s compact athletic build, clean legs, and very nice movement with suspension, lightness and balance. The trainer’s daughter says that Fred is so athletic, balanced, and quick that she can see him excelling as a barrel horse… but we also think he can excel in eventing, pony club, dressage, show hunters, or trails. Fred is great to handle and ride, and stands quietly for the farrier, loads and ships well. he is reported to be a mild and occasional cribber, so mild that he does not need to wear a collar. Fred’s on track family will definitely want to keep track of him and follow him in his new life, and references will be required to get this very special much loved boy. He is bargain priced because he needs to find his new home very quickly since it is the end of the racing season at Finger Lakes.
