We got to hang out and visit with this well bred dark chestnut daughter of Bellamy Road while her trainer got her ready for photos, so we can attest that she is so very friendly and sweet, a cuddler who loves peppermints! She literally tucked her head into our arms and snuggled and nuzzled while being brushed off. Her trainer says she is sound and a friendly sweet horse with no vices, a mare who after running well for the last few years, is not as competitive this year and letting him know she is ready for, as he puts it, “a better life off the track.” She has won 4 races, with 14 in the money finishes, in 29 starts, so she obviously has a good work ethic and competitive spirit. Her trainer says the owner has taken in other horses and he needs stall space for them, so Miss Bellamy needs to find a good new home as soon as possible. Although she was a bit “up” for her jog video due to being out of training for the last few weeks while still enjoying her full racing ration of sweet feed, Miss Bellamy was respectful of her trainer and showed good suspension although not being allowed to stride out. We watched videos of some of her winning races last year to better assess her movement, and we observed a fluid gallop stride and good suspension and balance to her trot. She is a quick sprinter, as is her multiple stakes winning dam, so perhaps polo or barrel racing will be good new career options for her.
Her sire Bellamy Road is known for getting intelligent, durable, athletic horses. He is from the Chief’s Crown/Danzig sire line, and out of a mare from the Caro line. Her dam is a multiple stakes winner, and is by a sire from the Damascus line, out of a mare by Crafty Prospector. We see outstanding potential in the very sweet Miss Bellamy for numerous sport disciplines, and at her bargain price she presents an enticing opportunity.
