The gorgeous Stripes is a beautifully bred and very lightly raced young man. Unfortunately, while breaking out of the starting gate during his first race recently, he banged his right hind leg and has a curb. He was still ouchy on it on the day of his interview so we could not get any video on footing that was already on the slick side. His owner says he is a beautiful mover. She also reported that the vet says a winter off will heal him enough to return to racing, yet his connections are so smitten with him that they prefer to find another vocation for their handsome boy. What we could see is a very well conformed horse with size and good bone, a regal presence, and a great brain borne out by his nice breeding. He is a son of the young sire Colonel John, a son of champion Tiznow. His dam is It’s Personal, a multiple graded stakes winner and stake producer by Personal Flag. This breeding means he has the Relaunch/In Reality line on top, and the Private Account/Damascus line on his maternal side — both lines are excellent for jumping and sport. We loved his pretty head and kind eye that topped a well balanced body that is still growing and maturing. Given the tincture of time to heal a minor injury, this lovely horse could be something special.
