Located at the Finger Lakes Race Track in Farmington, NY (near Rochester, NY). This handsome son of Tapit was as classy and quiet as he could be and needed little persuasion to pose without the wiggles. The big bonus for us as volunteers is that his regular exercise rider was effusive in his praise of Surtap, stating that he is a wonderful horse to gallop, has a soft mouth and collects himself in a natural frame. The connections for this exciting prospect have had him for several years and he has enjoyed turnout on the farm where he gets along with others in the herd. His handler reports that he cribs mildly but only on his feed tub when he eats. Surtap has had a decent race record with 10 in-the-money finishes out of 36 lifetime starts, including 4 wins. He has remained sound but is no longer competitive which is why he is moving on now. We loved his kind eye and his cute, flat kneed jog. He is by the hot TB sire Tapit out of a Cherokee Run (Runaway Groom) mare, a stout pedigree for sport disciplines. We think he is the total package at a very reasonable price.
