About FLF

What is a trainers’ listing service?

The Finger Lakes Finest Trainers Listing Service is a volunteer program to help advertise horses that are ready to retire from racing at Finger Lakes Race Track in Farmington NY and move on to a second career. Volunteers go to the stable area backside of the track and meet with various trainers and owners to take photographs and take information from the trainer on the horse. The horses are then advertised/listed on this website and through social media to help them find new homes. Our volunteers will also escort interested potential buyers around the stable area to look at horses and we also provide advice about the process or obtaining, vetting, shipping, and transitioning an OTTB.

We also try to promote other non-profit efforts to re-home Finger Lakes “Finests” in addition to those horses that are listed with us. Links to other OTTB groups can be found on our “resources” page.  One of these resources is the Finger Lakes Thoroughbred Adoption Program (FLTAP), an adoption barn run by the track and located on the track grounds. We are separate from FLTAP, but cooperate with them to advance our complimentary missions. Please do not call them about horses on our Listings, but please do look at the wonderful Finger Lakes horses they offer for adoption to approved homes.  http://www.fingerlakestap.org/
