Bluff Road, 2009 16.2h bay gelding: sold for racing

Our volunteers were smitten by this big wise soul with a big lofty trot.  We admired his leggy uphill build, great shoulder, and alert intelligent expression.  His trainer raved about what a wonderful personality “Bluffy” has, and he said he is sound, and always a sensible well behaved gentleman.  We got to see that first hand; as he was grazing, a horse on the road right next to him erupted, and while other horses reacted, Bluffy just calmly kept on grazing, barely flicking an ear. For his jog video, Bluff Road trotted politely on a long loose lead, and impressed us with his big lofty movement, and he tracked up well from behind.  Bluff Road has been a very durable race horse, running regularly and staying sound and happy.  This bodes well for future disciplines — this is a sturdy horse with heart who loves to work.  He has a great pedigree for sport. He is by Hook and Ladder, by Dixieland Band out of a Cox’s Ridge mare; many Hook and Ladder offspring are successfully competing in eventing and Hunter/jumpers.  His dam, a sister or half sister to several graded stakes winners, is by Gulch, who is known for producing sturdy, nice moving, good brained horses with good feet. He is from a top Paul Mellon/Rokeby Stables female family, tracing to Ribot and Amerigo.   Bluff Road’s half brother Harsh went from our listings last year into an eventing home.  We think Bluff Road has exceptional potential as a sport horse!
