Everything about this nearly black beauty had us saying “oooh he’s so cute” over and over again.  His handler says he is a total love bug, a very happy guy who loves to play, loves to cuddle, loves to be groomed and to get  attention.  She says he is very sound with no issues or vices, and we observed clean legs. Chubito has been a good consistent race horse, with 3 wins and 11 in the money finishes in 18 starts, including 2 wins this year.  But in his last few races, facing tougher conditions, he has shown declining interest, so it is time to let him find a new career and a new person to cuddle with. Chubito had raced the day before we saw him, and he showed nice, balanced movement for the jog video, leading to more of those “cute!” comments, although he was a bit tight from his recent race exertions.  We watched videos of his recent winning races to get more impressions of his movement, and we observed a beautiful fluid and balanced gallop out after the wire and a trot with nice reach from the shoulders.  Chubito’s sire, Hey Chub, is by Carson City out of a Spend a Buck mare, from the Buckpasser sire line. His dam is by Lion Hearted, who’s dam is Easy Goer’s full sister by Alydar, with more of that great Buckpasser sire line.  Chubito impressed us a wonderful all around horse who will be great for any new discipline, and has the kind of quiet friendly temperament that will make him a loved and trusted partner.  All of this, plus striking black good looks, for a bargain price!
