We see upper level athletic potential in this handsome big guy with his uphill build , strong shoulder, alert inquisitive attitude, and good movement.  Fletcher is a handsome well put together horse, and he sold for $110,000 as a yearling. He also has an excellent pedigree for sport/jumping disciplines. He is by Majestic Warrior, who is a son out AP Indy out of a Seeking the Gold mare.  His dam is by Anees, who is a son of Unbridled out of an Alydar mare.  Fletcher is Golden spent most of his racing career in Florida — where he won 3 races with 6 additional in the money finishes, and he came to Finger Lakes this summer. His trainer says that he is a sound — and we observed nice clean legs — but just not running well any more. He also says he is a very nice horse to work with, sensible and intelligent.  He says that when there is  commotion in the barn, Fletcher can react by weaving for a short while, but then he settles down.  We observed this — while we were waiting for the trainer to have a moment to bring Fletcher out for photos, someone knocked over a metal bucket down the shed row, and the resulting clatter made horses in stalls near Fletcher start bucking and spinning, but all that Fletcher did was slightly sway side to side. This sounds like something that turnout, getting out of the stressful track environment  and  on a non-racehorse diet will help with a great deal.  Fletcher was a bit up for his jog video, so the trainer could not let him fully stride out, but we could see good suspension and engagement to his trot.  Since he is such a big, young, feel good horse, he is more suited for an experienced rider — someone who is looking for a big athletic prospect to go up the levels in eventing should give serious consideration to Fletcher.
