Frosty Zen 2012, 16h, grey mare

Located at Finger Lakes Race Track,  Farmington, NY (near Rochester).
Another barn favorite for the day who exuded class and elegance. According to Frosty Zen’s trainer, who is also her breeder and owner,  this mare is a no nonsense ride with a fantastic brain. She thinks that she will be  ammy friendly as she’s such a sensible ride. Frosty Zen demonstrated her quality of mind as she jogged quietly on a day that had so many others exuberant. She showed very nice even and balanced movement.  A homebred, you can learn her entire history, and her owner/trainer cares for her personally and told us she’s excellent to clip and groom, and she’s great for the farrier, vet, and loads and trailers like a dream. The owner/trainer reports that Frosty Zen is  sound on good feet, and she is even barefoot behind. She is reported to be a mild cribber, but the owner/trainer has not tried to control it with a collar. Her owner/trainer reported that she has no other vices and she has no injuries. Frosty Zen has a large shoulder and lovely, correct neck that had our volunteer who does dressage excited, but is also has unlimited potential for H/J or eventing disciplines. Frosty Zen has 29 starts, with an impressive 6 wins, and an additional 8 in the money finishes. She is by Frost Giant, a son of Giant’s Causeway out of a Gone West mare, who is very popular as a sire of horses for jumping and eventing, who also do quite well in the dressage phase. Her dam, Zen Princess, brings in Gone West and Deputy Minister on her sire’s side, and on her dam side Zen, a son of Damascus who sired numerous top steeplechase horses and jumpers.  So jumping and eventing aptitude are definitely in this lovely mare’s bloodlines.
