Giant Brownie, 2014 16.2h bay gelding

Who wouldn’t want a giant brownie to savor! This big and beautiful moving young son of Big Brown is as luscious a sport horse prospect as his name suggests. Don’t let his “plain brown wrapper ” appearance lead you to pass by this guy. He is what everyone wants — young, big, sound, and a great mover with an excellent sport horse pedigree.  Giant Brownie has decided that racing is no longer what he wants to do, despite 2 wins and 5 in the money finishes in 15 starts, including a win this year. In a race this past summer, he got smacked by the whip of a competitor’s jockey at the start, and after that, he balked at breaking from the gate, which has led his owner to realize that it is time to let him move on to a career he enjoys, while he is sound and has all the potential in the world for a new discipline. His owner verifies that Brownie is completely sound because when he refused to break from the gate, he had his vet thoroughly go over Brownie to make sure there was not any physical issue, and reported to us that the vet said that Brownie was just fine with no physical issues. We admired Brownie’s uphill build, strong shoulder, kind eye, and friendly personality.  And then when we saw Brownie jog, we really fell in love — even though his owner had recently pulled his shoes and he was jogging barefoot on pavement, he showed off a beautiful trot that was light and with reach from the shoulders and good engagement from behind. His conformation and movement and pedigree all add up to Brownie being an outstanding prospect for eventing or jumping disciplines.  His sire, champion Big Brown, is a grandson of Danzig out of a Nureyev mare with Roberto on her dam’s side.  Big Brown is becoming popular as a sire of jumpers and sport horses known for good brains, balance, and athleticism. Giant Brownie’s dam is by Woodman, out of a mare by Roberto. Giant Brownie does crib, and it is  controlled with a collar.  His owner is motivated to find him a great new home before the winter, so he is offered at a bargain price for a big, young sound and great moving gelding.
