Secret Dixie Dance, 2009, 15.3h chestnut mare

Nothing to beware of with this “red mare!” A quick break in the winter weather in Western New York allowed our volunteers to have a delightful outdoor meet and greet with Dixie and what a pleasant, intelligent and kind hearted mare she was for our volunteers. This mare was placed to a new home off of the racetrack this fall where she was turned out, let down and was being lightly started by an experienced young teen who was working with her trainer. Though her training was going well, the family situation changed and Dixie’s racetrack connections stepped up to help her find a new forever home.  She is described as incredibly smart– this mare knows her people and wants to please. She has been turned out in large groups and with a partner and does well with friends– she would not do well as an “only horse” situation. She is currently barefoot and is described as sound and clean legged. We observed flowing, correct, good-strided movement that would surely do well in any discipline despite jogging barefoot on frozen, rocky ground. Dixie’s connections believe that she’s the type of horse that could take the RRP competition by storm and compete in several different rings and excel– she is eligible for the competition this year!  She was very quiet and well mannered even with a young colt acting rather excitedly a few feet away.  Her trainer reports she has no vices. Dixie is by Freefourinternet out of a Strike the Gold mare.

Voided Contract, 2013 17h bay mare

This big, solid boned, very well bred and athletic mare is a fabulous sporthorse prospect! And she’s fully eligible for the 2018 RRP. After a successful racetrack career, with 50% in the money finishes and 4 wins in 22 starts, Voided Contract is ready to move on to her next endeavor. This kindhearted mare is described by her trainer (who also rides her) as smart, safe, and eager to please. She’s reportedly easy to work around with excellent stall manners and no vices. We met Voided Contract on a blustery morning, 30+ degrees colder than the days prior and she was laid back, curious and kind for her meet and greet with our volunteers. Voided Contract last raced in November and since then has enjoyed turnout, let down and extra love from her caretakers. She jogged barefoot on a rocky, muddy, snowy path and she looked to be well balanced, sure-footed and confident, despite the conditions. She is reported as sound, Though she does have some “track jewelry” (old, set osselets) she has never had soundness problems through her race career with her current connections. Voided Contract is a barn favorite, and described as good to ride, but will need a capable trainer to help with her OTTB transition, as she can be strong. With her size, good bone, thick build and confident, correct movement, we could see Voided Contract making an exemplary event horse prospect, but she certainly has the brain and athleticism for any discipline. Voided Contract has excellent broodmare potential, since she is a half sister to a stakes placed runner, and her dam is a 3/4 sister to the great Smarty Jones. She is by Zensational, a son of Unbridled’s Song, and her dam is by Smarty Jones’ sire, Elusive Quality, out of a half sister to Smarty Jones. She is tail female to La Troienne, the greatest broodmare in the US stud book, from one of the Phipps’ breeding dynasty’s best female families, the female family that produced Numbered Account and many other champions. Prominent sport horse sire lines in her pedigree include Unbridled’s Song, Gone West, Fappiano, Caro. Don’t let this classy mare pass you by.
