It was ‘unreal’ how quiet this young gelding was as the horses on the walker behind him created quite a ruckus! He is a well balanced 15′ 2 h and just lovely from every angle. This is one aptly named gelding! Big boned and big bodied show hunters (even field hunters) will love this boy and we loved how he stood patiently as we took his pictures.  And look at that tail…wow, no complaining about how scraggly this one is!  One thing for certain, this boy will get you noticed! He had just raced so we didn’t get a video but his trainer says he is sound, only the typical stiffness seen just after a race; we will go back for a video after he’s had a day or two to rest. Update: When we first listed That’s Vistas Girl earlier this summer, despite calls from many interested people her owner decided to race her some more. Update March  2014:  In January FLF rescued Bedrock Blues from a neglect situation, and placed him in foster care, where he was given great care and restored to health.  We are now putting him into a retraining program, and he is available for adoption to the perfect forever home.

Bedrock Blues , a gorgeous and very well bred $310,000 yearling purchase, is a warhorse who has done his job as a racehorse. It’s now time for him to move on to another discipline. Flashy big guy with chrome and huge athletic potential. This lightly raced horse is described by his trainer as completely sound, clean legged, with a great temperament. He says Double Clap is easy to handle and super to ride — he does not even need a pony horse to accompany him on to the track to the gate for racing. Here’s a boy we just can’t say enough good things about. Beautiful and solid with great bone. Friendly, quiet and easy to handle. Hubba Hubba – solid boned, balanced, quiet and sweet, young and lightly raced– and a lovely mover! Backdrafter – whose barn nickname is Eeyore — offers it all. With his very laid back demeanor we can see him as a natural for the show hunter ring, but he would probably be unflappable on trails or hunter paces as well. He has shown no racing aptitude at all, so his trainer wants to find him a new career where he can shine.  He is well bred, by Hook and Ladder out of a graded stakes winning mare by Seattle Dancer (Slew’s half brother).  Hook and Ladder brings in both Dixieland Band and Cox’s Ridge, sire lines well known for producing good jumpers with good minds. When we saw Melvindale, all we could say was “wow” — he is a beautiful, classy, big elegant horse of obvious quality. He was showing great racing potential as a two year  old, winning an allowance race in New York and beaten only a half length in a $100,000 stakes race. He then developed a suspensory problem which was successfully treated with stem cell treatment, and he came back 100% sound. But then he developed a partially paralyzed flap, and last fall he had tie back surgery. His trainer says he came back from that with 60% air flow restored on the one side (was always 100% on the other side), but now he does not trust running at racing speed for more than a half mile. He says you can gallop Melvindale for two or more miles with no breathing problems at all, and that he makes no noise, but he shuts down when asked for all out speed. He described Melvindale as quiet, sensible, good to handle, and very sound. His legs are clean, and he showed lovely long strided flowing movement for his jog video. We also noticed a huge overstep at the walk. This horse has excellent potential for the H/J show ring, and could also excel in dressage or even eventing despite the tie back surgery, since it does not call for full racing speed. If his great looks, good mind, and beautiful movement aren’t enough to entice you, Melvindale also has an outstanding pedigree for jumping. His sire is a son of Cox’s Ridge, and his dam is from the Private Account/Damascus line.

This handsome fellow’s connections seem to have a direct line to really nice horses! He has more class and looks than racing aptitude. He is beautifully conformed with a nice topline and a kind eye. Oh so pretty, friendly, quiet and sound – just not into racing anymore, so his owner/trainer has decided he is ready for a new career.  Gorgeous sound young gray geldings go fast, so don’t hesitate to call about this lovely horse.  His trainer says he is quiet, and could even be suitable as a kid’s horse. Lord Sigmundo, aka “Siggy” is an adorable 5 year old, 16h bay gelding who raced the day before we took his photos. He is simply not running fast anymore but has great show hunter potential, nice movement and the sweetest disposition. His connections told us his color and facial markings reminded them of the equine star of the movie “War Horse,” and we can indeed see the resemblance. One of his trainer’s favorites, he is said to “talk for his food” and loves attention. Super quiet, he just stood there and posed while his pictures were taken and he politely took the mints we offered him. A cute, gentle horse with striking markings and no soundness issues. Great show hunter potential!

This black beauty’s pretty, fine-boned features and graceful demeanor make her a stunning prospect for both the hunter ring and dressage. She was alert and engaged, attentive to what was happening without ever being anxious about all the commotion around her. She displayed very nice movement for her jog video. Double Roar is a five year old, gorgeous dappled dark bay gelding with a great shoulder and a nice top line. This big boy is an extremely well balanced, good boned, and sound horse with no vices. His groom said the ladies at the track love to ride this horse because he’s so quiet and good to handle. This cute and quiet gelding has been a  successful racehorse, but he is now ready to move on to a new life. This sweet guy has made over $125,000, and is by Hook and Ladder, whose offspring are known for good minds and many have successfully transitioned to jumping and other disciplines.His trainer says that with his sweet personality Seeking Eldorado should make a good riding horse. The trainer also says he’s easy going, trailers well, loves to swim and is a great eater. Like ’em tall dark and handsome – well here he is. Pay The Judge certainly catches your eye with his solid build and gorgeous dapples and striking wide white blaze. He has a great topline and we noticed he tracks right up at the walk and trot. His trainer says he very fancy under saddle and  he needs a more experienced rider. We watched some videos of his races and he certainly looks like a fancy mover, with a toe pointing reach to his trot and a very balanced comfortable looking canter. He’s good in the barn and in turn out at the farm. He has a few superficial boo boos from trailering (which is why he is wearing one wrap) but his trainer says he is sound with no vices. He has a wonderful pedigree for jumping; he is from the In Reality/Intent sire line, and his dam is from the Damacus sire line. Secretariat, Northern Dancer, Best Turn, Sir Ivor, and Bold Ruler all appear in his pedigree. So pick your discipline and let this distinguished gentleman really get you noticed in the ring.

This boy is a stunner but his trainer says he has absolutely no interest in being a racehorse. That is certainly great news for anyone looking for a gorgeous horse for dressage, show hunter or just about anything else. Despite the fact he’s only three he was very sweet and nice to handle and a snuggler at that. We know he is a true 16.3 because we measured him and at this age he may grow and fill out some more. Very well bred, clean legged, nice bone, lightly raced, a lovely mover with nice suspension this horse has it all. He really impressed us. Don’t wait because this guy should go fast.

Apparently he is easy. After a successful career at the track his trainer would like to retire this pretty boy to a good home. She says this guy is a happy horse and is easy to ride and work with.
