We were happy to see the lovely “Brook” because we remembered this big,sweet mare, with her beautiful face and gorgeous forelock, from when we had listed her in the spring. At that point, when Brook’s sister became a stakes winner, her trainer / owner decided to retain her to race over the summer. We were told that she is great to work around, with no stable vices and that she is also a straightforward horse to ride. We were told that she is a “very good girl” to groom and handle, and that she does not even need to be tied to groom or tack up, but she “can be happy”. We observed a super quiet and sweet girl who appeared well mannered even though it was a very bitterly cold day. Her connections also report that she has been turned out on the farm and loved it, so this should ease her transition into a new career.We liked her uphill build and her big, solid body with great depth through the heart girth. She was quiet and friendly when we snapped her photos, even trying to lick the phone of a volunteer who had stepped in for a close-up of her lovely face! This one is also fully peppermint broke! We noted an enlarged ankle, but her handler stated that she is sound on it. Her hind ankle has a scar from an old cut that she incurred while swimming in the pool at the track, but her trainer told us that has not seemed to bother her either. She jogged quietly for her handler, with animation and more hock action suggesting she might be better suited for dressage than hunters.Brook has earned over $31,000 in 23 starts with record of 2-4-2. A respectable career, but one that is out-shone by her better known half-sister, Wait A Minute, who won the NY Oaks this summer and is now a contender for the NY bred 3-year old filly of the year! This family connection can only increase her appeal as a broodmare prospect. But given her size and build,she might have appeal to sport horse breeders as well. Red Brook Road is by the excellent sire Bellamy Road, who is a son of Concerto from the Chief’s Crown branch of the Danzig line. Her stakes producing dam was bred in Brazil, by perennial Brazilian champion sire Roi Normand, from the Raise A Native line.

Located in a farm close to the Finger Lakes Race Track in Farmington, NY (near Rochester, NY).  Another one with a super fun name to follow him into his second career!  His connections Wiggles as “a good egg” who “never does anything wrong”.  They think he will make a great riding horse in a different discipline.  They also feel that he would be a good choice for a junior rider or someone looking to get into the world of OTTBs (with a professional’s assistance of course).  Wiggles is reported to be retiring sound and without any stall vices.  We visited with him for a while in his stall and he was very sweet and personable.  He seemed to enjoy all the attention!  Wiggles has earned just over $47,000 in his 21 starts with 4 wins, 1 second, and 3 thirds.  His trainers report that although Wiggles raced decently this year, he developed a strong dislike for the starting gate and was refusing to enter it towards the end of the year. They’re taking this as a sign that he’s ready for something new! It was a bitter cold day and the barn was surrounded by ice on the day we did his listing, so there was no safe way to take him outside for pictures and videos.  Despite how cold it was, he was incredibly quiet during his photo shoot with just the lead rope hooked under his chin.  The footing was extremely deep in the arena which made it challenging to get a good idea of his movement.  His demeanor and personality make it totally worthwhile for a trip to the farm to meet this cutie in person!  He is by Soaring Empire out of a Pure Prize mare.  We think Wiggles would be another great prospect for RRP 2020!  He’s had some let down time at the farm and is ready to start his next career!

Located in a farm very close to the Finger Lakes Race Track in Farmington, NY (near Rochester, NY).  We always enjoy listing horses from this barn and this big boy did not disappoint!  “Mark” is described as a barn favorite and we could certainly see why.  Mark has a gorgeous, uphill build.  We could see him excelling as an eventing horse, but surely he could go in many different sporting directions.  His handlers described him as classy and elegant.  They also report he is a “total love bug” who loves attention.  We were able to get info from his exercise rider as well who reports that he is very nice to ride.  His trainer reports that he is retiring sound and without any stable vices.  They also report that he LOVES hard peppermints (not the soft ones though), so a home that will provide lots of his preferred treats is a must.  Mark has had a successful career on the track earning over $133,000 in his 44 starts with 6 wins, 5 seconds, and 9 thirds, a testament to his durability, heart, and intelligence.  His connections are quite attached to this big guy, so references will be checked to ensure he is going to a great home.  When we took his pictures, it was bitter cold and very icy.  Unfortunately there was no safe way to get outdoor pictures, so these hardly do him justice.  You will have to make a visit to see him in person to truly appreciate him!  He is by Noonmark out of a Pulpit mare.  Mark would be a fabulous RRP 2020 prospect!
