Good things come in small packages, and once gelded and given a little time to rehab a small, tight bow on his left front tendon, this handsome solid bodied guy has good thing written all over him!  His name is apt — he in indeed built like a truck and he will take up a lot of leg. His trainer and handler report that Jessie is sweet, easy to get along with, quite charismatic, and not at all studdish.  He is reported to be gentle with doting kids, and his winning personality has made him quite the barn favorite — and a favorite of everyone who works in the same shedrow.  Because he has just been hand walking in the shedrow since his recent training injury, he was quite happy to be outside for his photo session, and thus was frisky for his video. But we could see hints of nice light movement, and he appeared sound. The trainer is anxious to find a loving home for Jessie where his  best can be brought out in just about any discipline.  Once given time to heal, bowed tendons usually present no limitatioons, even for eventing. Our first FLF listing of 2014 — and what a wonderful horse it is! Beautiful, solid bodied, flashy with chrome. His owner/trainer says that he is just a lovely and quiet horse, completely sound and wonderful to work around with no vices. She says that under saddle and on the track he is a willing and forward horse who loves to work, but he has a bleeding issue when working at racing speed that precludes further racing. She thinks he will be fine doing something less strenuous that full speed racing (which would be most disciplines!). She is more than happy to discuss the issue with a prospective buyer. Because he is forward and energetic and athletic, she recommends an experienced rider, not a child.

Elegant Jetsetter is a 7 year old gelding who is described by his trainer as a thoroughbred in a quarter horse’s body. She states that he turns out well with a group although he tends to be low man on the totem pole. At 15.1-15.2 hh max, we think he would make an elegant children’s hunter although his barrel will take up a lot of leg on a taller rider. He has been ridden Western, been on trails and ridden by children. His trainer states that he has a sweet disposition and is wonderful to work with.

If you’re looking for a lovely moving, bold jumping big sound OTTB who has already had his down time from racing and is progressing well in a retraining program, this one is for you!  Wesson last raced at Finger Lakes in 2010, and has had good flat work and jumping retraining. He is a bold jumper who seems to love it, and he has handled 2’6″ with ease. On the flat he is forward and nicely balanced and supple, and looks like he should do well in the dressage phase of eventing.  He is an excellent prospect for eventing or for local hunter/jumper shows. His pedigree is excellent for sport — he is from the Gone West sire line, with Pleasant Colony, His Majesty, Stage Door Johnny, Private Account, Damascus all close up. He is clean legged and sound, leggy and big with very nice conformation. We loved his kind and intelligent eye and elegant head. He is currently at a dressage barn very close to the Finger Lakes race track, where you can try him out. We watched her groom him, and can vouch for his good manners.  His owner sadly needs to part with him because she is expecting her first child, and will soon have to stop riding. She wants him to go to a home with an experienced rider who will be able to give him the time he deserves and bring out his outstanding athletic potential.  For a horse of this quality, that you can start competing on this season, he is bargain priced so that he can find a great home quickly. This sweet and pretty lightly raced four year old is still growing, so he is likely to top out a bit larger than his current 16h.  He is currently hanging out on a farm near the Finger Lakes Race Track looking for a great new home. The farm owner says he has a lovely temperament, is friendly and easy to work with, and she thinks this pretty young guy will make a great project for someone to bring out his potential for a new career.  He raced only twice last year, and then apparently had a small chip, so was given time off.  According to the farm owner, when he came to her a few months ago, he was completely sound, and has remained so while turned out. The horse’s owner is not in a position to keep racing him, so he told the farm owner to find him a good home, and FLF is happy to help!  We have not seen him in person ourselves – but we will try to do so in the next few weeks if some lucky person does not snap him up first; the photos were sent to us by the farm owner.  He has quite a nice pedigree for sport. His sire is Breeders’ Cup Sprint and Metropolitan Handicap winner Silver Train, who is from the AP Indy sire line, with Cormorant and His Majesty/ Ribot on his dam’s side.. This lovely dark bay filly was claimed by the trainer this past winter. When they x-rayed her left knee they found she had several chips and may possibly have had surgery in the past. They would like to find a new career for her and her pedigree has good broodmare potential.

This gorgeous boy sold for $62,000 as a two year old and did well on the track. He has the solid build of a Quarter Horse and a quiet disposition to match. After a recent workout he had an x-ray of his left knee and was found to have a slight slab fracture. The x-ray also indicated that there were no chips or damage to the joint. They feel with time off he should heal and be fine to ride again. When we took his info we watched him trot and he moves nicely and tracks up.
