Reason for Gold is a tempting prospect for someone looking for a large gelding who will probably top out at 17 hands. He is lightly raced with 8 lifetime starts and 4 in the money finishes and, while his owner/trainer will continue to race him, he is not confident that he will jump up and become competitive with the conditions he has. As often happens, some horses are able to eke out one win (usually at lower level claiming races) but just can’t progress beyond that. He impressed us with his gentlemanly behavior and unflappable personality, even as his stable mate jumped and rollicked on the walker right next to us. His handler relayed that he has absolutely no vices, is sound and never puts a foot wrong. He also explains that he is happier in turnout than being in a stall and feels that he would be a good candidate for 24/7 turnout. Reason for Gold is very nicely built and is still butt high so we think he will be magnificent when he finishes growing and maturing.
