Gusty Wind, 2015, 16.3 h, bay gelding

Located on a farm near Finger Lakes Race Track, Farmington, NY.  This attractive and flashy boy was very aptly named for the day! We were struck by his beautiful, slightly dished face, accentuated by his attractive blaze.
We found this handsome boy to be polite and well-mannered in his stall. Outside, he was attentive but ready to go. We noted his deep heart girth, long, sloping shoulder, and powerful hindquarters. He appears to be a balanced and athletic horse. We were told that as a two-year-old, Gusty Wind had surgery to remove knee chips before starting to later race as a three-year old (his breeder/ original owner had opted to intervene early, before chips moved into a joint) and has raced without ever being sore. We observed that although he had raced the Monday prior to our visit, he was a very freely moving horse without any lingering issues or hints of soreness.  He jogged soundly for his video, displaying light, springy movement. So his knees, from what we can ascertain, do not seem to have caused any issues for him.
This Florida-bred broke his maiden at Gulfstream before ultimately heading north to Finger Lakes. He has had a respectable record notching 3 wins and 7 third place finishes among his 25 starts, with lifetime earnings of over $41,000. But he is not as competitive as his present owner had hoped for, so he is looking for a new home and career for this pretty boy rather than incurring the expense of being shipping him south to be raced over the winter.
Gusty Wind is by Indy Wind (A.P.Indy) out of a Lightnin N Thunder mare (with Storm Cat and Hoist the Flag in her pedigree). This beautiful youngster has lots of flashy chrome that will definitely get you noticed in the show ring! So blow on in to Finger Lakes and take a look at him for yourself.
