Are you looking for a big young horse with excellent sport horse potential? If so, this still growing filly fits the bill. Country Manor is a daughter of Kentucky Derby winner Country House, who is sired by Lookin at Lucky — a sire sought after in the sport horse world and known for good brained athletic offspring who jump and move well. She has one win in 12 starts, and that win came earlier this summer on the synthetic track at Presque Isle. Recent research shows that horses that run well on turf or the synthetic polytrack surface make the best eventers, as they excel on cross country. With Presque Isle closed for the winter, and with the Finger Lakes racing season also winding down to its final month, her trainer has decided that she does not show enough racing aptitude to bring her back next year, so it is time to let her find her new career. The trainer reports that Country Manor is very nice to work with and be around, has no vices, and is sound with no issues. He thinks she is likely to top off at 17hands or more once she finishes growing. On a very frosty morning that had many horses feeling their oats, Country Manor showed her excellent manors, standing and posing on a loose lead, and walking and jogging politely on a loose lead as well. She displayed a nice flowing trot and an overstep at the walk. Her pedigree shouts sport horse — in addition to the Lookin at Lucky sire line, her dam is by Big Brown, and she has several crosses of Danzig, as well as Roberto and Hail to Reason lines. We would love to see this big girl rockin it in eventing or jumpers at the RRP Makeover next year!
