The volunteers couldn’t wait to get their hands on this adorable, pint-sized cutie! We loved this sweet-faced pony. He was described to us as a, “nice, quiet, sweet guy who is very friendly” and that’s exactly what we saw during his photo shoot. We’re told that he is good in his stall, has no stable vices, and that he is agreeable to gallop on the track. Based on his friendly and curious demeanor, we certainly believe it! We noted his sturdy, compact build, nice proportions, and solid underpinnings. He remained quiet and relaxed during his video and displayed cute movement at the jog. He seems like he’s an athletic little guy with a good brain that would be fun to have in the barn. Granted, we estimated his height so he may be slightly taller than a literal pony and he’s certainly young enough that he could still grow a smidgeon. So, although you might not technically be able to show him as a literal show-pony, he would still be an excellent partner for someone looking for a shorter Thoroughbred; but with a decent width to his barrel, he will seem and ride bigger than what the measuring stick says. He might also be an excellent choice for those athletic pursuits that favor a compact horse with a low center of gravity- such as barrels, polo, or ranch work. And with his charming personality, he would probably relish being a family pet, pleasure and trail horse too! Mickey is by Fiddlers Afleet out of Ballymist, a Mt.Livermore mare. His lineage is peppered with many sport lines (Northern Afleet, Fappiano, Buckpasser, Blushing Groom, Hail to Reason) which bodes well for a variety of different athletic pursuits in his second career. Since he only has a single third place finish out of 8 starts, he’s being moved on because he’s not competitive as a racehorse. He has a 10/07 entry at the track if you’d like to see him run. Good things do come in small packages!
