Ask Mae, 2013, 17h Bay Filly

This big beautiful girl’s racing career got off to a promising start, as she won her first race and ten ran well in a stakes race. But then she unfortunately got a mild slab fracture in her knee last year. The prognosis with surgery was excellent and surgery was performed, placing a screw to hold the fracture in place in 2016. She was slowly and properly rehabbed. She was put back into race training, and while she galloped soundly, after 5 speed breezes, it was clear to her connections that she isn’t as strong as she once was. While she jogged sound for our volunteers, she has come back from hard workouts sore. X-rays are available to seriously interested parties and the veterinary prognosis is good that she will be sound for work. She is good to work around with no stable vices. We could see her making a stunning dressage mount or pleasure horse. Ask Mae is a well bred mare who should be of interest to those who breed for racing or for sport. She is by Congaree, from the Blushing Groom sire line that is very popular with hunter/jumpers and eventers.  Her dam is by Quiet American, a son of Fappiano, and this is another sire line much coveted by both eventers and the show hunter disciplines. Her second dam by wavering Monarch is a stakes winner and multiple stakes producer, and she is from the Majestic Light/Majestic Prince sire line with Buckpasser close up– all sire lines with great appeal for sport. Looking for a light riding horse that also has impeccable broodmare qualities?? Ask Mae is your girl.
