Aspree, 2011 16.2h grey mare

This stakes placed big beautiful daughter of Freud came out of her last race, which she won, with a mild bowed tendon, so it is time to retire her from racing. Beautiful, solid boned, with a great shoulder, Aspree has been a winning machine on the track this year, with 4 wins in 6 starts. As a two and three year old she ran second and third in stakes races, so you know there is athleticism and quality and heart here! Aspree is described as good to handle, good in turn out with other horses, and she likes to have a companion in her stall while at the track — the barn mini often kept her company. Because Aspree had injured her tendon just 4 days before we took her photographs, we did not take a jog video. But we watched replays of her many winning races to assess her movement, and we observed a lovely fluid flat kneed gallop and trot. If you give the tendon proper rehab and time to heal, Aspree will be find for any discipline — ready to restart after the winter off. Freud offspring are lovely movers and very good jumpers! With her race record and pedigree, she is also an excellent broodmare prospect. Freud, a full brother to Giant’s Causeway, is perennially NY’s leading sire. Her dam is by Unbridled’s Song, and her second dam is a graded stakes winner. Lots of great sire lines for sport/jumping in her pedigree: Fappiano, Roberto, Blushing Groom, Caro, Hail to Reason, Damascus.
