Augie Dawgie, 2010 15.2-3h bay gelding

This adorable horse is a barn favorite, very special to his connections, and our volunteers were smitten with him too!  He is beautifully proportioned, with a strong shoulder and hind end. He has a sweet, kind personality, reflected in his kind eye.  He is described as laid back, great to handle, and very good to gallop, just going along lightly in an egg butt snaffle. For his jog video, despite a very cold wind that stirred many horses up, Augie politely trotted on a loose lead, and showed off lovely show hunter style movement. He dropped his head and flicked his toes with a light ground covering trot.  Augie is retiring sound; it is time to find a new career because after winning four races he is not competitive in tougher race conditions.  Augie does have a hardened hematoma on his left flank from being kicked two years ago. It does not interfere with anything, and it has been thoroughly checked by three different vets, who all cleared him for any activity.  Don’t be deterred by this minor cosmetic blemish — we think Augie  is a terrific show hunter prospect, but he could also excel in any discipline.  He has a sport horse oriented pedigree. He is by Purge, who is by Pulpit out of a Copelan mare.  He has three crosses of Bold Ruler, as well as Nijinsky and Al Hattab in his pedigree.  A horse of this quality and temperament will go fast, so don’t hesitate to call.  An excellent home is essential and references will be checked.
