Awesome Lute, 2011 16.1h dark bay gelding

Everything about this horse, from his well balanced, correct and uphill conformation, elegant head, and presence, calls out “quality”!  He is also a very nice mover,  showing a nice light trot with good balance and a bit of suspension. His trainer says he is good to handle, and is a horse with high energy who will do best with an experienced rider. He was perfectly behaved for his photo session — he seemed to enjoy posing and being admired.  And not surprisingly, he is very well bred, by champion sprinter and Breeders’ Cup Sprint winner Midnight Lute, out of a mare by champion Awesome Again, and his second dam is a stakes winner and stakes producer. These are great sport horse lines — his sire is from the Quiet American branch of the Fappiano line, with Deputy Minister up close, and through his dam he brings in another cross of Deputy Minister.  Awesome Lute has some back class, with  wins on the much tougher New York circuit, and this year he has one win and a third in 4 starts. But now he must face tougher conditions where he is not as competitive, so his trainer says it is time to find a new career. His potential for any new discipline is unlimited. He is clean legged and sound, solid bodied, and with his great looks he will attract attention in the show ring.  We watched some race videos to further assess his movement, and our impression of balance and suspension was confirmed, at both the canter and trot.
