It seems that tall, dark and handsome was the theme for the day with the offering of Champagne Papi, a statuesque fellow who was as chill as can be. Papi has never put a foot out of place and absolutely loves to train. He’s reported to be an all around good citizen, easy to gallop and is a gentleman on the ground. His trainer reports that he gets wound up when the mornings are busy and will kick the walls, but she has moved him to a quiet barn with a quiet stall and it hasn’t been a problem. Because of his eagerness to train and gallop in the morning his trainer thinks he would be a wonderful eventing or foxhunting prospect. Papi is by Scat Daddy (Johannesburg) out of a Smart Strike mare. He has had 28 lifetime starts with 2 wins, 3 seconds and 5 thirds and his trainer reports that he has just tailed off and needs to put racing in his rear view mirror. We think this is a bargain price for a horse that ticks all the boxes.
