Cheer for Grace, 2013 15.3+h bay mare: retained by owner

This pretty bay girl with an eye catching blaze is sound, clean legged, built like an athlete, but just too slow at the racing game — but that can be the sporting world’s gain, as she has unlimited potential for any new discipline.  Her trainer — who is also Grace’s exercise rider and jockey — says that Grace is a good horse to ride, obedient and never does anything wrong. She is also good to handle around the barn, and has no vices.  The day of our meet and greet with Cheer for Grace was four days after  she had raced, and in the interim she had done nothing but hand walk in the shedrow, so when she was brought out into swirling snow and gusting freezing winds for photos, she got understandably excited.  But she responded well to her trainer’s  handling, and showed good even movement for the jog, despite the conditions not being conducive to letting her trot out to really show her stride.  Cheer for Grace has had 13 starts, and has yet to win.  She is a Massachusetts bred by Indian Ocean, who is by Stormy Atlantic. Her dam is a granddaughter of Unbridled’s Song with Halo and Caro and Hoist the Flag and Herbager in her pedigree — all stout lines much admired in the sport horse disciplines.
