Chenais’ Posse, 2015 16.2h bay mare

Located at Finger Lakes Race Track, Farmington, NY
Looking for an outstanding sport horse prospect?  Here she is! This big elegant mare is described by her trainer as a really nice horses to work with and be around, sound and clean legged with no vices and a good work ethic. The trainer says that Chenais has good stamina and is a forward horse — sounds ideal for eventing and cross country!  We think she is an excellent upper level sport horse prospect. She has an alert, kind and intelligent expression, and she is well put together with a balanced build, strong shoulder and hind end. She has been racing well, bringing home checks, but given the difficulties of this year, the trainer knows she has to downsize and she wants to let this mare go on to a new career while she is still sound and full of unlimited potential.  We saw Chenais only two days after she had raced, and for her initial jog pass on the pavement she was slightly tight (but not nearly as stiff as a lot of horses right after they race), but for her second pass she warmed up and showed very good flat kneed movement with good flow and reach.  We also watched the videos of her winning races, and we observed a ground covering big fluid gallop stride and she runs well on both muddy and fast tracks.  She should be a blast on cross-country!  She has an ideal sport horse pedigree.  She is by Posse, who is from Deputy Minister and Rahy/Blushing Groom and Roberto/Hail to Reason sire lines.  Her dam is a very well bred daughter of Unbridled’s Song who is a half sister to stakes winners and producers. Posse tends to sire big, solid boned, pretty bays who are good movers, good jumpers, and good brained horses.
