Coldblack is a well bred Kentucky bred beauty who was meant to be a nice racehorse, having sold for more than $100,000 as a yearling, and, indeed, he once was. His last start was over one year ago and his connections brought him back to the track this year, hoping to get him racing again. He has been steadily working out, with numerous published workouts, including one at the end of September, so he is fully RRP eligible for 2019. But Coldblack has some ankle soreness after working out, so his owner/trainer knows it is time to let him move on to a new less strenuous career. The trainer says he is a kind good horse to handle, and he was very polite for his photo session, as we admired his beautiful build and kind intelligent eye. He also showed off very nice movement, with lightness and suspension and good reach. Coldblack has been an earner of over $100,000 with 7 wins, 4 seconds and 5 thirds out of 46 lifetime starts, so he has had success on the track. With some down time and TLC and we think he will be successful in a new venture off the track, and we can see him enjoying trails, hunter paces, and perhaps lower level dressage or eventing. He is by Ready’s Image, from the Halo/Hail to Reason/Turn-to sire line, and his dam is also by a Halo line sire. Buckpasser, Wavering Monarch, Icecapade, and Best Turn (another Turn-to cross) are other sires in his pedigree that are sought after by sport/jumping disciplines for durability, good brains, and athletic/jumping ability. Please give this handsome kind soul a chance at a great new life.
