Coldblack, 2010 16.3h dark bay gelding

This lanky and laid back big guy has a great sport pedigree, back racing class at several mid-Atlantic tracks, and has racked up 7 wins in his 46 races. He sold for $90,000 as a 2 year old.  But this year he’s not as competitive, and his trainer says it is time to let him find a new career.  We saw him only 4 days after he had raced, and he was none the worse for wear, showing no stiffness. He showed a flowing big walk, and nice balanced movement with good reach from the shoulders at the trot, and he moved out on a loose lead.  Due to language difficulties, we couldn’t get a lot of information from the trainer, but he did emphasize that Coldblack is a good boy, and we could see for ourselves how polite and easy to deal with he is, and he has a very kind eye. The trainer says he is sound (as we said, he had raced only 4 days before!), and we observed clean legs.  Coldblack is the type of good brained, big hearted, and durable war horse that will reward you with many years of great riding.  We can see him enjoying hunter paces, fox hunting, trails, or lower level eventing.  He is by Ready’s Image, from the Halo/Hail to Reason/Turn-to sire line, and his dam is also by a Halo line sire. Buckpasser, Wavering Monarch, Icecapade, and Best Turn (another Turn-to cross) are other sires in his pedigree that are sought after by sport/jumping disciplines for durability, good brains, and athletic/jumping ability.  Please give this kind soul a chance at a great new life.
