Dapper Draper, 2009 16h liver chestnut gelding

Our volunteers fell hard for this gorgeous, chunky, and oh so friendly guy. His name could easily be Dazzling Dapples!  His trainer says that in the summer his beautiful liver chestnut coat is so dappled that whenever he is out for morning exercise on the track people stop and ooh and aah.  We could even see the dapples on a gray day through his winter coat.  Dapper Draper loved hanging out with us and being the center of attention, and we hung around him giving him treats and chatting with his trainer for quite a while, since we were reluctant to pull ourselves away from such a spectacular horse.  He has very solid bodied, balanced, correct conformation, and he is regally bred,  by leading sire Distorted Humor out of a stakes winning Dixie Union mare. Not surprisingly, given his looks and pedigree, he sold for $175,000 as a two year old.  While he didn’t quite live up to that, he has been a useful racehorse, with 4 wins and an additional 12 in the money finishes.  His trainer says it is time to let him move on to a new career while he is still sound and happy.  For his jog video, Dapper Draper showed off a lovely hunter type toe pointing trot, and we sure do think this horse could excel in the show hunter ring.  His trainer, who also gallops him, says he is very classy to ride.  She said that last winter she rode him indoors and worked on suppling, bending, and moving off the leg, and that he picked it right up.  This means he should transition well to a new discipline.  We think a horse as classy, beautiful, friendly, and nice moving like Draper will go fast, so hurry up and call to be the lucky person who gets our volunteer favorite!
