Debonaire Derek, 2013 15.3h grey/roan gelding

Gorgeous grey alert!  This eye-catching and still growing young gelding is described by his owner as a fun and laid back horse who just likes to eat and slowly gallop around rather than exert himself in his races.  After only 4 races, it is apparent he is not going to burn up the track, so it is time to let him be the fancy show horse that he is meant to be in  light of his looks, lofty movement, and quiet temperament. His owner says that Derek is great to work with, fun to be around, very sweet, and has no vices — but his playful  nature does come out when he likes to dunk his hay in his water bucket. Derek posed like a perfect gentleman for his photos, and calmly walked and trotted for his video, showing off a big flowing walk and a beautiful lofty trot with good reach.  Derek has good solid bone, a longer back which is often associated with excellent jumping ability and form, and he is likely to grown some more, and may top out at a bit over 16h. With his solid build he can take up a taller rider’s leg. We can see Derek excelling as a show hunter with his fancy movement, but he is ready to do any discipline you want to do with him.  He has an intriguing pedigree for sport/jumping. He is by Exchange Rate, who is a son of Danzig.  Derek’s dam is by Not for Love out of a Cryptoclearance mare, from the Fappiano line.
