Desert Valentine 2011 16.3 bay mare — place through FLTAP

We listed this gorgeous mare last year and ultimately she was retained for racing, She is now available again with some caveats, and just as stunning as she was when we last photographed her. Desert Valentine is “off” and her handler states that she came up from the winter in Tampa with a soundness issue that can’t be easily diagnosed. She is convinced that she would benefit from turnout and the tincture of time and believes she will come sound again. Valentine is a well bred mare and boasts a successful racing resume. She is by Wild Desert from the Wild Again and Damascus sire lines out of a mare from the Hoist the Flag/Ribot sire lines. Her $160,000+ earnings were compiled out of 38 starts with 7 wins, 8 seconds and 9 thirds, earning herself a retirement that honors her all-class breeding and race record. She won her first out in NYRA and won an allowance heat in Saratoga in 2014. Her last race was in Tampa in January of this year and she did not finish and was put on the vet list. Her handler explained that she isn’t able to get her off the vet list and her connections are ready to move her on. Being the classy girl that she is she was quiet and poised during her meet and greet and was simply gorgeous in the muted morning sun. Desert Valentine is being offered at a bargain price for the right person who may wish to pursue in depth diagnostics and figure out her lameness issue or simply give her the time she needs to let down from racing.

Desert Valentine is now located at the Finger Lakes Thoroughbred Adoption Program barn on the track grounds. If you are interested in him, please call FLTAP to make an appointment and put in an adoption application. (585) 500-5333
