Desert Valentine, 2011 16.3h bay mare: retained for racing

Hello flashy big girl!  This gorgeous big mare is described be her handler as very sound, with clean legs, and a good quiet temperament. She’s is also a big hearted,  hard trying mare who has been a very consistent successful race horse, with 7 wins, and 22 top three finishes in 34 starts.  She runs her best on the synthetic track at Presque Isle, but that track is closing until next summer, so the trainer has decided it is time to let Desert Valentine move on to a new career while she is still sound and happy and has so much athletic potential for so many new disciplines.  Desert Valentine showed off very good movement for her jog video — and she also showed that she is completely unflappable!  As she was jogging past us, a horse that was being walked behind her suddenly bucked and bolted, causing horses on a nearby walker and in a nearby round pen to spin and kick out.  We were startled by the sound of hooves clinking against the metal sides of the round pen,  and we expecting a reaction from Desert Valentine.  Yet  she just kept quietly trotting along on a loose lead, perfectly behaved, completely unfazed by the hijinks around her. Our volunteers looked at each other in amazement and said  “horse show schooling ring ready!”  We think that Desert Valentine will turn heads in the show hunter ring, but with her size, stride, movement, and heart, we also think she can rock the eventing world.  She is by Wild Desert, who is from the Wild Again and Damascus sire lines.  Her dam is by Dixie Brass, a son of Dixieland Band, out of a mare from the Hoist the Flag/Ribot sire line.
