Our volunteers love and appreciate the warhorses coming off this track and meeting Diamond Showcase was a real treat on this day. While our crowd of volunteers and shoppers looking on, he put up with biting flies and horses galloping on the wet training track just several feet away and didn’t turn a hair. This handsome fella has had a distinguished racing career and 50% in the money finishes: 10 wins, 13 seconds and 15 thirds, so he has earned the warhorse title and has remained sound and sane in the process. He has won two races this year as a 9 year old! His connections offer nothing but superlatives for this solid bodied, handsome horse and our admiration increased the more we watched him. His assistant trainer told us that his former jockey loved to gallop him and would call out to her when he was on the training track behind the barn to watch Diamond show off his long, fluid extended trot. She describes it as a beautiful and impressive gait under tack and we could see elements of that on the uneven surface as he hand-jogged for us. His current connections have had him for six years and he has been very good to them so they will want him to go to an excellent new home. His trainer describes him as a good boy with no vices but does note that he is a dunker!
