Don’s Legend, 2010, 17h, dark bay gelding

This gorgeous and gentle giant is the darling horse of his trainer who expressed much regret at not having enough room at his farm to keep his best bud for ever. Don is still sound, but he has lost interest in racing this year, so it is time to let him move on to find a new person to love him and bring him along in a new career. We saw a kind eye, gorgeous dapples, a strong bone, and a gentle soul, one that, according to his handler, could be a “kids’ horse” were it not for what may be an intimidating size. Don’s Legend’s great shoulder shows how much muscling up this horse can do to fill up the rest of his already massive body. The trainer’s daughter who also rides him described him as “super smooth” to ride, quiet and relaxed and as a partner who “tries hard.” She thinks he would be great at dressage. He is reported to be great for the farrier and vet. He showed very good movement for his jog video, with a balanced light trot that had an even cadence. Don’s Legend is by Don Six, who is from the Wild Again sire line. His dam is by Gold Legend, a son of Seattle Slew.  War horses like Don’s Legend are durable and wise and have so much left to give in new careers!
