Double Down Donna, 2015 bay mare, 15.3 h

Located at Finger lakes Race Track, Farmington, NY (near Rochester, NY). We loved the bright, intelligent expression on this pretty young mare’s face. She is by Tale of the Cat (Storm Cat), out of a Mr. Sinatra mare with Buckpasser on her distaff side. A friendly, perfect little lady during her photo shoot, she seemed to relish the attention of several volunteers as they assisted her handler in posing her for beauty shots. We were told that she’s generally good to ride and work around but that she “takes a strong hold”. We admired her general proportions, especially her wide, deep chest and square, muscular hind quarters. She gave us the impression of being a solid, balanced, round and agile horse. We observed generally clean legs except for an old osslet on her LF ankle, but we were told that she’s raced on it (and won) without any issues. Donna has a respectable race record with 5 wins, hitting on the boards an impressive 48% of her 21 starts and having lifetime earnings exceeding $58,000. Like most of the horses we saw during the day, she had a little extra sass in her step from the chilly, windy conditions (and having been locked up in the barn during to the prior day’s wind storm), but any exuberance was easily contained by her handler. She moved soundly at the jog, and we saw cute movement with spring and bounce in her step. Fortunately for you, her current connections would rather move her along than winter this lovely lady. Will you be lucky enough to take her home with you before the snow flies?
