DR. MAC, 2017 16.1h dark bay gelding

Located at Finger Lakes Race Track, Farmington, NY
When our volunteers saw this gorgeous dappled young horse we  nicknamed him “Dr. McDreamy,” even before we saw his fabulous floaty movement!  Mac is one of his trainer’s all time favorite horses — she just adores him.  She reports that you can do anything with him, and that he wants to be a pet, with  his true goal in life  to eat peppermints and soak up your affection.  She states that he is completely sound, and we observed clean legs.  She says that he has a good work ethic and likes to train, but in the few races that he has had he has shown no interest in going faster than the other horses.  He has 6 races, and has nothing better than a 5th place finish to show for it. Mac is a beautiful mover — he showed off a flowing walk and a floaty trot with good hind end engagement and reach from his shoulders.  With this movement he can be McDreamy indeed in many disciplines, from show hunters to dressage to eventing.  His trainer said she thought he would be great going cross-country. He is still growing and is likely to get a bit bigger. When he is fully mature and filled out he will live up to the McDreamy nickname we gave him.  His pedigree is great for sport disciplines. He sire is Dr. Large, a son of A P Indy and a mare from Mr. Prospector, Northern Dancer, and Buckpasser lines.  Mac’s dam is by Quiet American, who is a desirable sport horse sire from the Fappiano line, and in her female line she has Pleasant Colony and Stage Door Johnny. With these stamina lines, Mac should relish cross country galloping.
