Update June 2013: Empire Express has been hanging out on his owner/breeder’s farm, near Saratoga. He is now fully let down from racing and is ready for a new job. He has been ridden occasionally on the farm, but has not yet had serious retraining. This is one of several horses bred and raced by the DeVittos. He is a son of champion Tiznow out of a stakes winning mare. We had been introduced to his spectacular full brother, New York Style (aka “Cheesecake”) just prior to seeing Empire and both of these fellas are equally drool worthy. Empire raced well and stayed sound and sane with over $100,000 in earnings under his belt(girth). At 16.2 hh, he has beautiful movement and would make a lovely dressage prospect, but one can also definitely seeing him eventing or drawing attention in the hunter show ring. We all commented on his beautiful head and eye! This gorgeous guy has been well cared for and loved his entire life, and only the best of homes will do for him.
