Excommunicate, 2013, 15.3 Bay Mare–retained to race

Excommunicate is a half sister to the fabulous Frost Delay that who was quickly snapped up last week.  There is just as much to love about this sweet girl so we hope she will find a home equally as fast.  Her trainer reports that Excommunicate is retiring completely sound and is looking for a new home because her owner can no longer afford racehorses.  When we arrived, Excommunicate was turned out outside with a friend, which her trainer reports she loves.  She has been turned out alone and with a quiet buddy.  She walked quietly and carefully in being respectful of her handler on very icy ground.  Her trainer reported that she has nice ground manners and no vices.  We observed her standing quietly while being groomed in her stall.  Her trainer reports that Excommunicate really bonds with her “person” and she would love to see her go to a home with someone looking to keep her and bond with her.  She says she is a very athletic mare and is good to ride, although can be strong when not in regular work.  She thinks this mare has upper level potential.  She was very quiet for her pictures outside in the bitter cold and walked carefully on the ice.  Due to the ice, we had limited space to get a jog video, but we think she showed nice movement and seemed to have a big stride if she was able to fully trot out.  She had recently pulled a front shoe and was a bit foot tender on that foot on the icy ground.  Her trainer reports she She is lightly raced with 10 starts (2 seconds and 1 third in those starts) but is RRP 2019 eligible. She is by Include out of a Prime Timber mare.
