Flapper Girl, 2011, 16.1 bay mare

Flapper Girl is a sweet, kindhearted racemare who is known as “Clara” to her connections– named after the most famous flapper girl of the 1920’s. She started her career at Saratoga, so she showed enough promise in her training that her connections felt that she was a good fit there. Her next two starts were at NYRA and, when that didn’t pan out, she was shipped to Finger Lakes where she has had 34 additional starts. She has had 10 in the money finishes but competition is just too tough for her to keep hoping for another win. Her trainer describes her as a “morning glory”, a racetrack term describing a horse that trains like a Stakes winner in the morning but just doesn’t bring it in the afternoon for the actual races. She is described as a very sweet mare, who is honest to work and a smooth, comfortable ride. We had the opportunity to talk to her exercise rider who said she is a fabulous ride and a favorite because of her smooth gaits.  Her trainer will be looking for a home that appreciates her trainability and kind personality. With 37 starts and earning $41,000 on the track, Clara has clearly demonstrated her athleticism. We could see this adorable mare making an excellent event horse or jumper prospect, but she surely has the intellect and aptitude to excel in any discipline.  Clara comes from connections who are excellent, honest caretakers and a good home is a must.  References will be checked to ensure she stays looking as good as she does right now! This is a bargain price for such a quality mare, so we suggest calling quickly if she ticks all your boxes! She is by Corinthian out of a Stormy Atlantic mare.
