Fridayniteconquest 2013 16.3 h chestnut gelding

Update 6/2017:
We listed this gentle giant last year and he was retained for racing by his breeder/owner/trainer. He was wintered in Florida and returned to Finger Lakes this year where, three weeks ago, he broke his maiden and now, for certain, he is being retired from racing because they just don’t think winning that second race will be easy for him. He is adored by his connections and they can’t say enough nice things about him. He has a winning personality, loves his treats, loves people and is, in our opinion, an exciting prospect for sport. For such a big horse, he is wonderfully light on his feet and, indeed, is said to be very comfy to ride. References will be checked. We think he has grown a tad since his listing last summer and is pretty close to 17 hands now.

If you’re looking or a project that ticks all the boxes for looks, stature, soundness and friendly demeanor, this stunning young gelding might get your heart pumping. Bred, broke and campaigned by his connections, they have started him “the right way” by true horsemen who know what they’re doing. We were immediately struck by his size (“He’s only THREE?”) and then by his flaxen mane and tail (so he can be identified easily on the cross country course). Lightly raced with only 4 starts, his connections will try him one more time but hope to sell him into a sporting home in the meantime. Being such a big, heavy youngster is not always an advantage in a racehorse and this guy, though not exactly being a dud on the track, still has so much growing and maturing to do to be a legitimate contender in a racing career. He is reported to be sound, easy to gallop and, frankly, is still growing into himself. Not surprisingly, he has a huge stride with good reach and tracking up and his connections tell us he was bred for the turf. His personality during our meeting was inquisitive and friendly, and they offered nothing but glowing superlatives about working with and around him. We are excited about this boy’s tremendous potential for a sporting career with someone who will take time with him and bring him along slowly while he continues to grow and mature.
