Gazellephant, 3 year old, dark bay, 16.1+ filly: Placed!

Update: August 27, 2013 – Gazellephant’s new trainer found the mare her new home. 🙂

Update: Aug. 24, 2013:  When we were previously told that Gazellephant had been sold, it turns out she was actually placed with another trainer at Finger Lakes Race Track, who still wants to find her a great new home.

This beautiful girl is definitely more gazelle than elephant! Very pretty and very sweet, she is unraced. They put her in training this spring, and she developed a sore left front tendon. As you can see from her clean legs, she has not bowed her tendon, but her trainer wisely wants to stop on her and find her a good new home and new career less strenuous than racing.  Give her some rest and let her finish growing and filling out, and you may well have a wonderful horse for many disciplines.  There is also definite broodmare potential here. She was sold for $40,000 as a yearling, and she is by  the excellent sire Grand Slam out of a stakes placed, stakes producing mare. Lots of good sport sire lines as well: Gone West, Dixieland Band, Secretariat, TV Lark, Princequillo, Ribot.
