Geraldine, 2011 16.2h chestnut mare

Our volunteers enjoyed their visit with this big gorgeous  mare on a beautiful Mother’s Day morning. We were told she was a real sweetie and she did not disappoint. She was so quiet but friendly and was such a lady.   Her trainer said she bowed her right front tendon last year and had eight months off.  They put her back in race training in February but she developed heat in the leg so they  decided it was time for her to transition to a new career.  In our experience, with proper time, bowed tendons are not usually an impediment to most new careers. Geraldine’s groom says she loves lots of attention, is a very easy keeper, and is good around her own children, and that the mare may do very well with children given the right training.  Geraldine was a good consistent race horse, with 5 wins and 13 in the money finishes in her 27 starts.  She is by Pollard’s Vision, out of a mare by Phone Trick.  Dixieland Band, Affirmed, Clever Trick, Blushing Groom, and Northern Dancer are other prominent sires in her pedigree.
