Goldsome, 2009 15.3h+ bay gelding

Very special horse alert — the person fortunate  enough to become Goldsome’s new person will be very lucky indeed! Goldsome was such a barn favorite that when he was ready to end the racing phase of his career two years ago, the trainer’s wife decided to keep him to retrain as a “pony” horse to accompany race horses in morning training and to the afternoon races.   She has her pick of horses, so for one to be her “most favorite” is quite the endorsement!  Goldsome enjoyed a year of turn out, where he proved to be the perfect companion for anyone: young, old, gelding, mare — he didn’t care, he just happily hung out with them all. This spring, he was retrained to be a track “pony,” and learned western saddle riding, neck reining, quick turning, galloping off from a standstill,  and the art of standing quietly while all sorts of race horses and activity erupted around him. He has been a good citizen in his new job, except he just does not like it when the race horses that he has to accompany right alongside  bang into him and try to kick him.  So his connections are reluctantly realizing that they should let the fabulous, much loved Goldsome move on to a new career where his athleticism, great movement, great brain, and super sweet personality will allow him to excel but without the annoyance of fractious race horses bashing into his side! Goldsome is reported to be great to ride, super comfortable, with his springy light gaits, and with lots of stamina. And we certainly saw great movement with good push from behind for his jog video. He is described as sound, and a major cuddler — while his owner was telling us that he will lick you to death, he started licking us too!  Goldsome is very well bred, with an enticing sport pedigree,  by champion Awesome Again, who is from the Deputy Minister sire line out of a Blushing Groom mare. His dam is by champion Fusaichi Pegasus,  out of a Roberto mare.  We can see Goldsome enjoying  fox hunting,  hunter paces, trails, or excelling in the hunter ring or in eventing.  He is truly an all around prospect for any new discipline. Only the best of homes will do for this special horse, and references will be checked.
