Head Spin, 2010 16.3h bay filly with chrome

This big, beautiful, solid boned, flashy, and well bred filly is an outstanding broodmare prospect.  She has run well  in only five starts, with two wins and a second, but last summer in her first race she checked sharply trying to avoid a fallen horse and then fell over that horse, and she injured her knee. While the knee has held up racing this year, her trainer does not want to push her to keep racing, and he wants to retire her while still sound because of her potential as a broodmare or for other disciplines.  Very cleverly named, she is by top NY sire Freud (a full brother to the world’s leading sire Giant’s Causeway) out of Episodic, by champion sire Distorted Humor. We admired her good bone, balanced proportions and big shoulder. Since she is only four and still a bit butt high, she may well  grow a bit more. We saw a flowing long strided walk, but her trainer did not want to jog her for a video because she had not been doing any exercise for a few weeks and there was a lot of activity around the barn. We watched the videos of her winning races, and we observed a beautiful mover, with a fluid long strided gallop and a lofty flat kneed trot with great reach. Her bloodlines are excellent for breeding to race or for sport.
