Honest Johnny, 2009 16.3 h bay gelding: retained for racing

This big, handsome guy has a solid body, deep chest and beautiful shoulder and is a good mover; just the big young sound horse that everyone is looking for! He was quiet and sweet on a brisk morning and we loved his intelligent and kind eye. He jogged oh so politely and tracked up well and showed good balanced movement. Johnny is a well bred son of Chapel Royal, from the Buckpasser sire line, out of a Halo mare, so he has sport and class running through his veins. In addition to Buckpasser and Halo, he has Damascus, Sir Ivor, Turn-To, and Ribot in his pedigree,  and not a drop of Mr. Prospector or Storm Cat blood. A modern thoroughbred pedigree doesn’t get much better than this for its jumping/eventing/sporting potential. His handler adores him and ran out of superlatives extolling his many virtues! He had just raced the day before his photo session, and was none the worse for wear and did not seem stiff like some horses are the day after a race. His trainer is calling it a day on his racing career because while Johnny often runs in the money, he is chasing the elusive 2nd win after his only win this year, and that is a task he isn’t up to. Like some susceptible racehorses Johnny is a bleeder, a problem that is nearly exclusive to horses during all-out effort, such as racing. Non-racing disciples are not going to bother him, including eventing, and he has such amazing potential for other disciplines, such as dressage or jumping.   We think Johnny is as honest and classy as the day is long and ready to be your willing new project.
