Jazz Player 2011 16.2 chestnut gelding

Do you wonder what an almost half a million dollar two year old looks like? He looks like this gorgeous and regally bred son of Malibu Moon who sold for $450,000 at his two year old in training sale.  While he has not performed to his price tag, he has been a useful racehorse, with 3 wins and 13 in the money finishes in 33 starts. He won earlier this year, but lately has not been as competitive. His trainer dotes on her horses and always moves them on while they are sound and letting her know that they are done with racing. Jazz Player showed lovely movement for his jog video, with  suspension, good engagement from behind, and a toe pointing reach. Reviews of his race videos show a gorgeous mover with a gallop that looks like a dream to ride.  His trainer wintered him on her farm and said he settled right down and was terrific in turnout with a herd of geldings. She states that he is a very strong, forward horse on the racetrack and people who are familiar with OTTBs know that they usually chill out once the “go” of racing and racetraining is in their rearview mirror.  That being said, he is best suited for an experienced rider and/or a rider with a trainer. We can only imagine what his future career holds  — eventing, dressage, show hunter? — and look forward to following him in his next career.
