Judge Stanton, 2016 16.2+ bay gelding

Located at  a barn adjacent to Finger Lakes Race Track, Farmington, NY (near Rochester).
We first met this big, handsome boy while we were waiting by his stall. We were impressed by his friendly and sweet nature. His legs had already been done up, and when our contact arrived, we were impressed as he stood quietly and patiently, untied in his stall, while his wraps were undone.
Judge Stanton is exceptionally well-proportioned, solid-bodied, and nicely muscled. He has very muscular and well-shaped hindquarters, hinting at a powerful engine and rear-wheel drive. Imagine your next OTTB with sports-car handling! From his beautiful body condition, and long nicely arched and muscled neck, we were surprised to discover that he was only a three-year-old!
He is lightly raced with only seven starts, but is amazingly well-traveled for such a young horse. This classy youngster has raced at Aqueduct and Churchill Downs before arriving at Finger lakes to break his maiden in August.
Judge Stanton has  a couple of small knee chips; we were told that this has never created any soundness issues. His connections are very forthright and will make his x-rays available to serious prospective buyers as well as be happy to further discuss his vet history with you. He will be best suited for a flat work career unless you do the surgery to remove the knee chips.  But oh my, what a fabulous dressage horse he can be, since he is a jaw dropping gorgeous mover!
Although there were distractions and he was intently watching something off in the distance, he was a good boy as we snapped his pictures. He has a lovely, ground covering walk; nice and relaxed with good reach. He jogged soundly and displayed suspension with a good push from behind. We were able to see a lightness and rhythm in his extremely well balanced and nicely forward movement. Dressage enthusiasts, please take note!
He also has an excellent pedigree that proclaims his sport horse potential. He is by Alpha, a stallion whose grandsire is A.P.Indy. His sire’s bloodline also includes the Fappiano family. He is out of a mare named Back in the Shade by Put It Back, whose lines trace back to the sport horse line In Reality. And, just for fun, in case you want to ‘name-drop’ to some of your non-horsey friends, he’s got several iconic racehorse names that even they’ll recognize peppered into his pedigree (Secretariat, Spectacular Bid, Seattle Slew, Alydar, A.P.Indy).  Although, to be quite honest, there is already plenty enough to brag about with this beautifully built and moving boy.
