Jupiter Rising, 2014 16.1h grey/roan gelding

Located at Finger Lakes Race Track, Farmington, NY (near Rochester)
Gorgeous Grey lovers — feast your eyes on Jupiter Rising!  And if his stunning good looks aren’t enough to make you fall in love with him, he is a beautiful mover too! And he has an outstanding sport horse pedigree, and is also a kind good horse to handle, according to his groom.  Jupiter Rising is lightly raced, with 16 starts, 1 win, and 4 additional placings. He was running on the big time Saratoga/Belmont circuit, and then in Maryland, and he was recently sent to the owner’s Finger Lakes trainer to find him a new career, because the owner prefers to focus on horses with stakes potential, and Jupiter was proving not to be as competitive after he broke his maiden. Jupiter was friendly and polite for his photo session, and seemed to be unfazed by lots of activity going on around him. When he trotted off, both his handler and our volunteers started exclaiming over his lovely movement — light and balanced, with a great toe pointing reach from the shoulders, and good engagement from behind.  He has a set osselet on one front ankle, and the contact person who showed him to us said he has been galloping since his arrival at Finger Lakes with no issues or soreness. We felt the ankle, and it was cold and set. Jupiter Rising is a son of Exchange Rate,  who is a Danzig son much admired in the sport horse world for siring horses with good brains and great movement and jumping ability. Jupiter’s dam is by Red Ransom, who is by Roberto out of a Damascus mare — two more great sport horse sire lines.  Caro, Key to the Mint, Caro, and Spectacular Bid are other sires popular in the sporting world that appear in Jupiter’s pedigree.   We can see Jupiter excelling in many new disciplines, from the hunter ring to dressage to eventing.  Young grey geldings are very popular offerings, even when they don’t move as well as Jupiter. So if you are interested in this stunning boy, we advise moving quickly. But please remember, do not contact busy racetrack people (who have to get up before dawn)  after 8:30 pm!
