Local Legacy, 2008 16.3h chestnut gelding

He has been with his current owner/trainer for 5 years, and is a much beloved horse — for good reason.  He gleams like the proverbial copper penny, has a regal presence, and is a very friendly and smart horse who enjoyed all the mints that shoppers and volunteers gave him.  He is very solid boned, clean legged and sound, has never had any issues, and has enjoyed winters turned out on his owner’s farm. His trainer, who comes from an eventing and fox hunting background, thinks that Local Legacy will excel in those endeavors.  For his jog video he dropped his neck into a natural frame and showed very nice lofty, even  movement.  He has been a durable race horse, with 6 wins and 31 in the money finishes in his 74 races, including a win this year.  His trainer says he is a great horse to work with, very sensible, great to load and trailer, easy to clip and bathe — a horse who will do whatever you want, and takes everything in stride.  He is by Greeley’s Galaxy, who is from the Gone West sire line, and he is out of a mare from Deputy Minister and Gulch lines. Mature war horses like Local Legacy are just the most durable, wonderful horses, ready to go in a new discipline, and ready to give so many more years of riding adventures. Whoever is lucky enough to get approved to be the new owner of Local Legacy will be a lucky person indeed!
