Midnight Mike, 2014, 16.1h dark bay colt

Super, super sweet is how “Mike” was described to us and we certainly agree!  Mike enjoyed cuddling with his trainers as they talked about what an awesome guy he is.  He seemed to really enjoy big head hugs!  Midnight Mike has a correct build and is very stock-he would be good for a taller rider needing something to fill up their leg.  When you get a horse from John and Polly, you can rest assured that you are getting a horse who has been impeccably cared for.  They truly want to find the most appropriate second career for each of their horses, and it is no different for Mike.  They report that Mike has no vices and is easy to work with, even after being out of work.  They also report that he is a very easy keeper.  Over the winter he did individual turnout and his connections report he loved it.  They report he does not act at all studdish, even with mares nearby.  His trainers are open to having him gelded while still at the track so they can handle his initial recovery after the procedure.  Finger Lakes Finest does offers a gelding incentive program that will contribute to the cost of gelding.  Mike was very well behaved and stood quietly in the road for his photo shoot despite it being feed time and very snowy outside! He is lightly raced with only 4 starts.  Mike had some right front soreness as he was coming back into training after last winter.  His trainers decided to lay him up for a while and he has enjoyed being the barn pet.  However, he is ready to start back into work.  He has had 6 months off and is reported to be sound and barefoot.  His trainers would like to see him go into a home that will correctly bring him back to work after his vacation.  Mike was a $82,000 yearling and is will bred by Midnight Lute out of a Speightstown mare.
