NORTH COAST, 2019 15.3+h dark bay gelding — owner retained

This beautiful young and still growing gelding impressed us with his balanced conformation, strong sloping shoulder and deep heart girth and good topline.  He is described as a sweetheart and a “big ham” who loves people and attention.  He has raced 9 times, all at the maiden special weight level, never dropping into claiming races.  He has shown a competitive spirit, with 6 second or third place finishes, but a win has proved elusive. So his owners/breeders want to find him a new career rather than drop into lower level races.  He has knee chips in the upper joint that he has been racing steadily on.  We were told that the vet says that while they sometimes shift during the high intensity speed of a race, they should not pose a problem for a new career in many other disciplines. X-rays are available.  For his jog video, which was taken just a couple of days after he had raced,  North Coast showed good movement with suspension a nice hind end engagement.  We can see him doing dressage, or lower level eventing, or enjoying trails and your attention and treats.  He is sired by Vancouver, who is a son of Medaglia D’Oro (Sadler’s Wells sire line) out of  Danehill (Danzig line) mare.  North Coast’s dam, Always in Stillettos, was a multiple stakes winner for the owner/breeders of North Coast.  She is by Bandini (Fusaichi Pegasus line) out of a mare that brings in another cross of Danzig. This beautiful young gelding will grow some more, and can have many useful new careers, so please do not pass him by!
